The
Central Geographic Position of Kroonstad
Kroonstad lies roughly in the center of the Northern
Free State.
In turn the Free State lies in the center of Southern
Africa and it is difficult (though not impossible) to
travel between any two distant points of South Africa
without crossing over the Free State.
To plagiarise a popular aphorism, while it is not true
that all roads lead to Kroonstad, as do many roads lead
to Rome, it is certainly true that many roads lead from
Kroonstad!
It is also true that while Kroonstad is closer to the
start of many journeys than the destination it is a far
better and wiser option to overnight at Zoutspruit than
at any other point on your journey.
